Propylene Glycol (โพรไพลีน ไกลคอล) เป็นสารละลายใสแบบน้ำ ไม่มีสีและไม่มีกลิ่น มีความหนืดเล็กน้อย มีค่าความเป็นกรดด่าง หรือ pH ระดับกลางสามารถละลายในน้ำ (Water) และ แอลกอฮอล์ (Alcohols) ได้ แหล่งที่พบ เป็นสารเคมีที่ได้จากการสังเคราะห์ โดยการทำปฏิกิริยาระหว่างโพรพิลีนออกไซด์ (Propylene oxide) กับน้ำ   ทางผลิตภัณฑ์เครื่องสำอาง ใช้เป็นตัวทำละลายในผลิตภัณฑ์เครื่องสำอาง (cosmetic) หลากหลายชนิด เช่น ครีมทาหน้า โลชั่นทาตัว แท่งดับกลิ่นใต้วงแขน เพิ่ม moisture มอยส์เจอร์ เพิ่มความชื้นในเครื่องสำอาง สารช่วยหล่อลื่น และลดความหนืด ทำให้เนื้อครีม หรือเนื้อเจลมีความลื่น เป็นตัวทำละลาย (solvent) ช่วยเพิ่มความเสถียร (stability) ของเนื้อครีม เมื่ออุณหภูมิเปลี่ยนแปลง และผสมกับสารอื่นได้ง่าย กักเก็บความชุ่มชื้น (humectant) ลดการสูญเสียน้ำของผิว
