D-Panthenol : แพนทีนอล (Panthenol) หรือ วิตามิน บี5 (Vitamin B5) เป็นสารให้ความชุ่มชื่น และเพิ่มความยืดหยุ่น ใช้ได้ทั้งเส้นผม ใบหน้า และผิวกาย และเป็น provitamin ของ B5 สำหรับการดูแลเส้นผมครีมบำรุงผิว ละลายได้ดีในน้ำ, แอลกอฮอล์, โพรไพลีน ไกลคอล, มักจะนำมาใช้ในเครื่องสำอาง เช่น สบู่, แชมพู, ครีมนวดผม, คอนดิชันเนอร์, ครีม, โลชั่น, ครีมกันแดด, เซรั่ม, บำรุงเล็บหรือยาสีฟัน อัตราส่วนในการใช้ประมาณ 0.3-1% โดยจะทำหน้าที่เคลือบผิวของเส้นผม ฟัน หรือ ผิวแห้ง เพื่อให้นุ่มลื่น (Lubricating) และเมื่อผสมในครีมสามารถบรรเทารอยไหม้เกรียมจากแดดได้ดีอีกด้วย Panthenol เป็นแอลกอฮอล์ของกรด pantothenic (วิตามิน B5) และจึงเป็น provitamin ของ B5 ในสิ่งมีชีวิตมันถูกออกซิไดซ์อย่างรวดเร็วเพื่อกรด pantothenic เป็นของเหลวใสหนืดที่อุณหภูมิห้อง Panthenol ใช้เป็น moisturizer และปรับปรุงการรักษาบาดแผลและใช้ในกลุ่มเครื่องสำอาง

D-Panthenol ทนทานต่ออากาศและแสง ถ้าเก็บที่อุณหภูมิประมาณ 20 ํ องศาเซลเซียสในภาชนะที่ปิดผนึกอย่างแน่นหนาจะมีอายุการเก็บรักษาอย่างน้อย 24 เดือน D-Panthenol มีความเสถียรมากกว่าเกลือของกรด pantothenic เป็นประจำทุกวัน มักไม่เสถียรในกรดและเบสที่แข็งแรง
